SMS Popup
wish the native SMS was this sweetSMS Popup is the first or second app I've installed on every Android phone I've owned yet and will continue to be into the foreseeable future. It adds a set of features that makes SMS messaging just plain easier. Messages do more than just pop up with a ridiculously deep set of notification and configuration options.
SMS Popup goes as far as letting you arrange specific button layouts, set LED colors, display or not display message content in the popup, preset messages for canned responses- I could go on for quite a while. Or you could just try SMS Popup...
